I’m fourteen, trying out for the girl’s golf team for freshman year. I took golf lessons when i was 8, but I am completely stray to anything about golf.
I’m going to need some assistance.
What type of golf clubs, attire, etiquette should i purchase and work on?
I also have til August 25, which is when the tryouts/practice starts,
im metally breaking downnn

For golf clubs and attire I would check out your local golf store. I prefer the PGA Tour Superstores if you have one located in your town. They can correctly fit you for clubs and have a wide selection of attire. For golf etiquette many books are available. I recommend reading the USGA rulebook as etiquette is covered here.

The best suggestion would be you go to a demo day and try a range of golf clubs out before you purchase anything and maybe go see your pro at your golf club and they will be able to help you out on what you should work on. Good Luck.

Attire is easy, a quick online search will show many styles depending on your taste. Generally, you will be looking at polo’s and sweater tops mixed with shorts or slacks… with everything in bright or pastel colors. No denim, though. Items should be loose enough to allow you to move through your swing. Head to the local mall or large sports chain.
Etiquette is also a quick find. I recommend checking out the USGA Etiquette link for a quick pimer. Briefly though… 1) Please be silent and still while others in your group are teeing off. 2) When hitting in the fairway, each player will hit the ball depending on how far they are from the hole (the farthest away hits first and the closest hits last. 3) No one putts until all balls are on the green. Please fix your divot! 5) Please be silent and still while others in your group are putting. 6) There are no ‘gimmes’ - always finish with your ball in the cup.
Also, the USGA publishes a book of rules that you will want to pickup at the clubhouse or from the USGA website.
Picking clubs is the most difficult to address. You will just have try some out. You can contact the coach to find what course the team plays as a home course. If the course has a full service clubhouse, you should be able to visit and ask the staff or pro for some suggestions (you do not need to be a member of a club for this type of service, nor do you need to buy anything at the club). Also, almost every city will have a couple of large sports stores with a club trial area onsite. If you plan to become a varsity player, you will want clubs that work for your strengths (swing speed, grip, height and other mechanics). There really is no substitute for trying out some different clubs.

i was on the golf team when i was in high school as well. (I just graduated, btw), the first year is always the hardest, fyi, because you never know what to expect.
I cant tell you what clubs to buy, because everyone is different, i mean, i hit regular men’s clubs, but that is because i have a lot of muscle, your best bet is to go the golf store and try them out. you may find that the womens graphite shaft is best for you, (maybe not).
when it comes to a bag, on the golf team, they should provide you a bag, but till you get on the team the best bag (threw my experience) is and IZZE lightweight bag, the shoulder pads are very comfortable and it feels like you are carrying a backpack.
in attire, since the girls season is in the fall, it will be hot, and windy (well i am from vegas and that is our fall), but i suggest a regular hat where you can fit a ponytail through, and keep the hair out of your face.
SHOES!!!!!!!!: shoes are very very very important because you will have to walk 18 holes on grass, gravel, sand, and mud, and if your feet are uncomfortable, then you will have a very bad round. Check out the company footjoy. they dont have the cutest pairs of shoes, but they are very comfortable and they have a good grip when you swing. and you wont slip.
Clothes: in Shirts, i personally recommend the sleeveless shirts (where your shoulders are bare) and that is a CLIMA
COOL shirt. when you sweat, (which you will) you wont get sticky, and gross feeling.
Bottoms: all my years of being in golf tournaments i would wear either skorts, or shorts. and make sure you have huge pockets because you need to put your glove, on and off, you will need ball markers, tees and golf balls, and they make your hips look wide, but hey, you arnt golfing to make a fashion statement.
Etiquette:
some etiquette you make sure you focus on is knowing who is further from the green or hole. if you had a monster drive and the 3 other girls didnt, then dont go in there line of play to get to your ball, stop, be patient, and PAY ATTENTION!!! make sure you watch where the other girls ball went, if you saw it go OB, then say to her, hey i think you should hit a provisional, because i think that went OB.
dont step in other people’s line when putting, and ask if you can “clean your ball up”.
High school golf was really fun and i hope that your experience was as fun as mine, i made a lot of friends, and i cant wait to start college golf. good luck.
