The Garmin Edge 500 Is A Great Entry-level Cycle PC
Here is the light weight GPS based bike computer for a performance driven bicyclist. Piled high with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Including an ANT compatible heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter for a highly-tuned research of your ride.
Edge 500 features a high sensitiveness GPS receiver with Hot Fix satellite prediction to work out your position more rapidly. In the ride, the Edge 500 keeps track of your speed,distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review.
For very precise climb and descent information, the edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation. All Edge 500 models work with third-party ANT -enabled power meters to display your power output in watts as you ride. Some styles also ship with a digital heart rate monitor andspeed/cadence sensor.
Once your workout is done, connect Edge 500 to your PC with the included USB wire to look at your performance. All this comes in a small package for the Garmin Edge 500 is a 1.9×2.7×0.9 in. GPS device witha 1.2×1.4 inch display weighing 2oz.
The sole downside is that it doesn’t have a touch-sensitive screen. Also it doesn’t have a base-map like other GPS units. But due to its high GPS sensitivity it’s amoung the most accurate of the junior level bike GPS units. It's also got a rechargeable Li-ion battery lasts for 18 hours and this is likely thanks to the fact that it doesn’t have a touchscreen which consume more battery life.
The device gives strong competition due to its compact size and easy mounting capabilitieseven on a low grade bikes. And last though not the least the Garmin Edge 500 also have the capacity to record the body temperature. It records your temperature from time to time while you are riding and it helps in to maintain your stamina and the water content in the body.
