Chelsea,
Just a few quick thoughts to help you out.
Learn the fundamentals. Start out by learning the basics: set up, grip, takeaway, transition, downswing and follow through. You need to learn quickly how make solid contact and to ingrain the feel of the proper swing. Find some good resources such as magazines, websites, books, videos and ebooks to help you. If you have the time and money taking lessons from a teaching pro would jump start your game.
Choose good equipment and have them fitted. Fitted clubs do in fact make a difference. If they are fitted to you and your swing you’ll play better faster. Golf balls are designed for various swing speeds. Get the right ball for your swing speed.
Play often. The joy of the game is found on the course. The memories are made there. Great shots, milestones reached, course management skills all come from being on the course. Enjoy your time playing.
Give it time. It takes a while to master the skills required to play well. Don’t expect too much too soon. Just play your best. Allow yourself to get better over time.

to get good you have to practice. don’t expect to go out there and be automatically great. the fun thing about golf is you can see yourself getting better and the only person you have to compete with is yourself.
